Chinese Baby Carrier, Butterfly
Minority Chinese create these glorious pieces with hand-embroidery and embellishment in which to carry a baby on the mother's back. Straps would secure the carrier to the mother's body and hold the baby snuggly there. The butterfly motif is widely recognizable as an auspicious symbol from their creation story.
This slightly worn vintage pieces has had the straps removed. A rod pocket has been added to use in hanging on the wall.
