Ikat Robe, Marine and White
Killer jacket for so many occasions: for jeans or dressy evenings. This is real-deal ikat from Uzbekistan, where threads are tied off in patterns to resist the dye; then submerged, washed, warped, and woven. Through all of that process, the threads shift on the loom, which creates the soft, blurry lines and random beauty of the hand-made.
This jacket is the design and creation of Muyaho Aliyeva of Samarkand and Tashkent (pictured) Traditional braiding accents the front panel, along with tassels which can be tied at the waist.
The jacket reverses completely from the silk/cotton that you see to an inner casual cotton. The fit is lovely, too, as it has a gentle contour at the waist that creates a beautiful silhouette.
