Naga Ruana: Brown and Gold
In the remote mountain villages of Nagaland in far Northeast India, Naga native Tiala Neufeld has returned to reinvigorate an almost extinct weaving tradition among the tribal people there. In a new collaborative effort with ibu Movement, Tiala is designing with our creative team and re-introducing the natural dyeing of cotton, the cultural language of cloth that was her birthright. Each tribe carries potent images in its weaving, which are carried forward in styles made exclusively for ibu. We are so excited about this project!
Stunning colors and rich patterns are woven in different tribal villages where the history is recollected. Missionaries once tried to eradicate this local, authentic clothing; now it is being reborn in gorgeous ways.
These pieces are so unique and storied, you will want to wear them everywhere. A lovely weight, fluid but strong.
